Community Engagement Program (PEC) — Yes Week-End!

An intensive weekend of civic mobilization bringing together youth, associations and local communities around concrete engagement projects.

Build your leadership, grow your network and make your voice heard in Alberta's Francophonie! Yes Week-End!

PEC is a dynamic civic engagement incubator designed to propel Francophone youth into decision-making spaces. Over several intensive weekends, young people from diverse backgrounds, community organizations and experts come together to turn grassroots activism into real governance skills.

Why take part?

  • Training & hands-on workshops: build your linguistic confidence, develop your negotiation skills and master the levers of leadership in a minority setting.
  • Projects & concrete impact: co-create solutions to representation challenges and contribute directly to the Francophone Leader's Toolkit.
  • Mentorship & networking: connect with community leaders (FJA, FRAP and other leaders from the community sector), meet passionate peers and join a strategic network for your future.

Format: Hybrid format (intensive workshops spread over several weekends + interactive modules)

Target audience: Francophone youth and newcomers to Alberta (age 25 and up)

Young Researchers Program (PJC)

Dedicated support for early-career researchers from the Global South to publish, present and share their work within the CAP SUD network.

Propel your academic career, showcase your work and join an international scientific network!

The Young Researchers Program (PJC) is a scientific excellence incubator co-led by CAP-Afriques and the Research Group on Africa and Latin America (GRAAL) at Faculté Saint-Jean (University of Alberta). This free program offers strategic support to help emerging academics turn their research into high-impact work.

What the program offers:

  • Publications & collective projects: direct contribution to collective works and leadership of innovative scientific projects.
  • Advanced training & mentorship: practical seminars on publishing methods in North American academic journals.
  • Visibility & outreach: conference facilitation, participation in international scientific events and science communication in the media.
  • International networking: integration into an interdisciplinary network linking researchers, academics, decision-makers and civil society actors.

Format: Flexible online and in-person format

Target audience: PhD candidates and early-career PhDs in social sciences (degree obtained less than 3 years ago)

Universities Without Borders Program (PUSF)

Transnational academic partnerships fostering mobility, co-research and exchange between universities in the North and South.

Building lasting scientific bridges between countries of the South, and between the South and the rest of the world, through strategic on-the-ground collaborations.

PUSF is a targeted academic mobility initiative designed to structure high-impact research partnerships between researchers from the South and their counterparts around the world. By favouring focused immersion in specific university hubs, PUSF turns scientific exchanges into lasting institutional projects.
